Tree Planting Activities
Mazingira Alliance conducts community-driven tree planting initiatives aimed at restoring degraded landscapes, enhancing biodiversity, and strengthening climate resilience in arid and semi-arid regions, particularly in Mandera County. These activities are designed to address deforestation, land degradation, and the impacts of climate change while promoting sustainable livelihoods.
Our tree planting programs prioritize indigenous and climate-resilient tree species suitable for local ecosystems. We work closely with community members, schools, youth groups, and local institutions to ensure ownership, long-term care, and sustainability of planted trees.
Through tree planting, we:
Restore degraded land and improve soil health
Provide shade and windbreaks for communities and livestock
Enhance biodiversity and ecosystem services
Promote environmental awareness and green stewardship among youth and communities
Each tree planting activity is accompanied by community training and follow-up monitoring to improve survival rates and maximize environmental impact. By integrating environmental conservation with education and community participation, Mazingira Alliance contributes to building a greener, healthier, and more resilient future for present and future generations.
